BE CAREFUL LITTLE EYES WHAT YOU SEE

<><><>

Eph 1:16 I do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers:

17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,

18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,

19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power.

INTRODUCTION

  • The eyes are two of the most vital organs in the human body.
  • With the images we collect around us, we are able to navigate.
  • We reason, we calculate, we judge.
  • We learn, we discern not just physical objects, but also moods and emotions.
  • We convey love and distaste through our eyes.
  • Over our lifetime, we come to develop a great reliance on our eyesight more so than we do about our other senses.
  • Once we see something, it becomes very hard to convince us otherwise.
  • We tend to think that what we see is universally the same for all.
  • With the advance of technology, we are forced to deal with the limitations of the human eyes.
  • For instance, we cannot see electricity, so we use a tester to determine the presence of electricity.
  • We use a stud detector when we need to nail something on the wall
  • We use all kinds of sensors and machines to determine the state of our environment.
  • A thermometer tells us the temperature of a given object.
  • We use compass to determine direction because the human eyes will fail us.
  • We use all sorts of machines to determine our blood pressure, our blood sugar level, our heartbeat and the list goes on.
  • From a physical standpoint, we can all agree that our eyes are not as reliable as we may wish.

THE HUMAN EYES ARE SUBJECTED BY OUTSIDE FORCES

  • From a biblical standpoint, when God installed the eyes in the human body, He programmed them with a lot of restrictions and jurisdictions for the wellbeing of mankind.
  • We can only see what God wants us to see.
  • While some animals have eyes that can see in darkness, the human eyes cannot see in darkness.
  • I heard that cats and dogs can see spirits, if so; they were given a different set of eyes than ours.
  • I hear that certain people can see spirits naturally without being Satanists, if so; we can agree that the human eye is selective.
  • We were not design to see angels or other spiritual beings that are around us.
  • God sealed the human eyes in innocence so that we would not detect activities that are going on in other spheres and dimensions.
  • In Genesis chapter 3, something phenomenal happened.

THE FALL OF THE HUMAN SIGHT

Ge 3:9-11

9 ¶ Then the LORD God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?”

10 So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”

11 ¶ And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?”

<><>

  • Adam and Eve lived two different realities in their lifetimes.
  • They had a set of eyes before they fell in sin that complemented their innocence.
  • The minute they ate the forbidden fruit, their natural eyesights got affected.
  • They jumped from one reality to another.
  • They immediately lost the protection that God had place in their eyesight.
  • They went from filling comfortable and whole about themselves to becoming ashamed of their appearances.
  • When they heard the voice of God, instead of running to God like they always did, this time, they ran away from God.
  • God asked them “Where did you get the revelation that you were naked?”
  • “Have you eaten the forbidden fruit?”
  • From that first encounter with sin, we can see that the human sight is selective and relational.
  • From that point on we can understand that two people may be staring at the same object while one may see one thing and the other something different.
  • The poison from the forbidden fruit affected their vision of their own selves.
  • We discover in the fall of mankind that there are several different realities that are going on simultaneously.
  • We can see that the human eyes are like a television set; what we see is determined by what channel we are on.

CHRISTIANS OUGHT TO NAVIGATE IN LIFE THROUGH THE SCOPES OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.

2Co 5:7

For we walk by faith, not by sight. (NKJV)

  • Since our visions have been blurred by sin, we need faith to find our way in life.
  • Air plane pilots, marine and submarine pilots and depend on instruments to find their destinations and for night travelling.
  • The GPS has been one of the greatest discoveries to me.
  • The Bible says that broad and spacious are the ways that lead to eternal damnations.
  • Satan is busy creating false maps and false road signs that you need a strong and genuine faith in God to navigate in this life

1Co 13:12

(LSV)

12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. (NKJV)

  • Our perception of life from a natural standpoint is deceiving.
  • What seems true may not be actually true.
  • We cannot trust what we see in this life just as we cannot trust the images we see on television.
  • The most clairvoyant person on earth only sees a small glimpse of the big picture.

2Co 4:18

(LSV)

18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. (NKJV)

  • Christians are to use their regenerated eyes to detect the reality around them.
  • At the new birth God gives every Christian a new set of eyes.
  • Christians ought to be in constant communication with God so that we can receive the true insights in the events of our lives.

YOUR STATE OF BEING DETERMINES YOUR VISION

  • When they were stoning Stephen, instead of seeing his attackers, he was contemplating Christ seating at the right hand of God.

(LSV)

55 But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, (NKJV)

  • Vision is affected by altitude, the higher up one is, the greater the scope of his view can be.
  • Your vision is affected by how far up you are in your intimacy with God.
  • Stephen was able to experience a completely different reality than what was going on in his physical surrounding.
  • The more bound we are to our immediate physical environment the more we tend to miss the spiritual reality that God is trying to show us.

THE EFFECTS OF A DAMAGED VISION

  • I feel that this passage has more to teach us about spiritual than physical blindness, since we know that Jesus did not need any means to do any miracle.
  • He could have just ordered the man to be cured.
  • We can understand the process of spiritual blindness.
  • You may be able to say, “I can see now.”
  • Many Christians love to sing “Amazing Grace”
  • “I once was blind, but now I see.”
  • From observation, I see that many Christians don’t see too well.
  • Until they explain what they see, we cannot tell if they really see.
  • From blindness, you can now see objects moving.
  • Something is definitely wrong, if you see people walking around looking like trees.
  • Many still have damaged visions although they have been touched by God initially.

ASK GOD FOR A PROPER VISION

Eph 1:16-19

16 I do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers:

17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,

18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,

19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power.

  • Walking by faith is to see life through the God’s lenses.
  • Christians ought to be able to receive insights that others cannot notice.
  • Abraham was able to identify that the three strangers were heavenly citizens.
  • Jacob was able to recognize the latter of God on earth (an airport, a landing station, a camp of God) where angels were ascending and descending from earth to heaven.
  • Lot recognized the heavenly visitors immediately when they came to destroy Sodom.
  • Elisha was living a different reality when the Syrians soldiers came to kidnap him t bring to the king of  Syria.
  • Balaam was able to see the future of the Jewish people.
  • On the way of Damascus, Paul was able to see the light and heard the voice, but his companions could only hear the voice. (Acts 9:5-7)

WHAT DO YOU SEE NOW?

ARE YOU SURE YOU ARE SEEING RIGHT?

SHOULDN’T YOU CHECK WITH GOD TO ENQUIRE IF YOUR VISION IS CORRECT?

BE AWARE THAT SATAN CAN ALSO MANIPULATE VISIONS.

2Co 4:3 Si notre Évangile est encore voilé, il est voilé pour ceux qui périssent;

2Co 4:3 But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing,

4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.

  • We need to intervene to ask God for a proper vision.
  • We need to ask God to spare us from the blindness of Satan.
  • We need to pray for those people we evangelize that God would correct their visions.
  • The bible says that the whole world is under the dominion of the devil.
  • You cannot trust anything from this world.
  • Most of the great things that are going on around us are traps to get us in trouble with God.
  • Satan vows to take the whole human race with him down to the lake of fire.
  • Only when are under the guidance of the Holy Spirit can we escape the schemes of the devil.
  • Don’t trust your natural wisdom to navigate in life. The enemy will get you every time.
  • Ro 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (NKJV)
(LSV)

CONCLUSION

  • Never trust your human vision again because it can easily be manipulated.
  • Always seek the revelations of God in all matters of life.
  • Ask God for a second touch if you are still not seeing right as a Christian.
  • Be careful little eyes what you see.
  • So long that Peter was looking at Jesus he was able to walk on water like a crystal carpet.
  • The minute he began to focus on his environment, he began sinking and began to experience the reality of the environment.
  • What you feed yourself is what you will see.

AMEN!
