JOSEPH  INTERPRETS THE DREAMS OF PHARAOH

• 38 Et Pharaon dit à ses serviteurs: Trouverions-nous un homme comme celui-ci, ayant en lui l’esprit de Dieu?
•  38 And Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God?”

JOSEPH INTERPRETS THE DREAMS OF PHARAOH

1- Qui refusait d’être appelé par son titre de prophète, mais répliquait: « Je suis un berger. »

2- Quel Prophète fit cette citation: « Je veux me réjouir dans le Dieu de mon salut. » ?

3- Quel prophète a dit: «  Apportez à la maison du trésor toutes les dîmes, Afin qu’il y ait de la nourriture dans ma maison »?

4- Quel prophète répétait ces mots: « Dans 40 jours Ninive sera détruite. »?

5- A quel prophète Dieu a dit: «  Et toi, marche vers ta fin; tu te reposeras, et tu seras debout pour ton héritage à la fin des jours.  » ?

JOSEPH INTERPRETS THE DREAMS OF PHARAOH

• Ge 41:14-24 Pharaon fit appeler Joseph. On le fit sortir en hâte de prison. Il se rasa, changea de vêtements, et se rendit vers Pharaon.
•  15 Pharaon dit à Joseph: J’ai eu un songe. Personne ne peut l’expliquer; et j’ai appris que tu expliques un songe, après l’avoir entendu.
•  16 Joseph répondit à Pharaon, en disant: Ce n’est pas moi! c’est Dieu qui donnera une réponse favorable à Pharaon.
• 17 ¶ Pharaon dit alors à Joseph: Dans mon songe, voici, je me tenais sur le bord du fleuve.
•  18 Et voici, sept vaches grasses de chair et belles d’apparence montèrent hors du fleuve, et se mirent à paître dans la prairie.
•  19 Sept autres vaches montèrent derrière elles, maigres, fort laides d’apparence, et décharnées: je n’en ai point vu d’aussi laides dans tout le pays d’Égypte.
• 20 Les vaches décharnées et laides mangèrent les sept premières vaches qui étaient grasses.
•  21 Elles les engloutirent dans leur ventre, sans qu’on s’aperçût qu’elles y fussent entrées; et leur apparence était laide comme auparavant. Et je m’éveillai.
• 22 Je vis encore en songe sept épis pleins et beaux, qui montèrent sur une même tige.
•  23 Et sept épis vides, maigres, brûlés par le vent d’orient, poussèrent après eux.
•  24 Les épis maigres engloutirent les sept beaux épis. Je l’ai dit aux magiciens, mais personne ne m’a donné l’explication.

INTRODUCTION

• We’ve been applauding Joseph for his quietness of heart that has always exhibited in adverse circumstances.
• So far we see that Joseph always remain steadfast to his integrity when life served him the worst curve balls imaginable.
• Can Joseph also maintained his integrity in times of fame and abundance?
• Here we see Joseph standing before the most revered individual of his era.
• Joseph received the highest reference to be the problem solver for the Pharaoh.
• Will the man of the hour live up to the high expectation placed on him.
• All Egypt was gazing at Joseph.
• All the wise men from the Egyptian Empire and abroad were gazing at Joseph.
• God has a certain way to bring His children to the spot light at the right time.
• Any misstep with his encounter with the Pharaoh could determine the fate of Joseph.
• The dreams of the Pharaoh were indeed very significant.
• The proximity of the two dreams was of significance.
• The elements in each of the dreams were significant.
• The common behavioral pattern in the two dreams was important.
• The sequence of the good ones preceded the bad ones was essential for interpreting the dreams.
• The common origin of the good and the bad ones was of importance for Joseph to interpret the dreams.
• The timing of waking up out of each dream was of significance.
• The fact that the Pharaoh himself had those dreams was important.
• These were not just dreams for information sake.
• The dreams of the Pharaoh required interpretation, but most importantly actions.
• While Pharaoh needed someone to interpret the dreams, Joseph provided the needed insights as what to do about the dreams.
• Joseph once again displayed his rare and distinguished character.
• Joseph took the dreams seriously.
• Joseph took no time to ask the Pharaoh for freedom.
• Joseph was found to be self-effaced and very committed to the wellbeing of others.
• In terms of his freedom, that would be up to God to decide the time and circumstances.

THE EXPLANATION OF THE DREAMS OF PHARAOH

Ge 41:25-31 Joseph dit à Pharaon: Ce qu’a songé Pharaon est une seule chose; Dieu a fait connaître à Pharaon ce qu’il va faire.

 26 Les sept vaches belles sont sept années: et les sept épis beaux sont sept années: c’est un seul songe.

27 Les sept vaches décharnées et laides, qui montaient derrière les premières, sont sept années; et les sept épis vides, brûlés par le vent d’orient, seront sept années de famine.

 28 Ainsi, comme je viens de le dire à Pharaon, Dieu a fait connaître à Pharaon ce qu’il va faire.

 29 Voici, il y aura sept années de grande abondance dans tout le pays d’Égypte.

30 Sept années de famine viendront après elles; et l’on oubliera toute cette abondance au pays d’Égypte, et la famine consumera le pays.

 31 Cette famine qui suivra sera si forte qu’on ne s’apercevra plus de l’abondance dans le pays.

• Joseph honored God’s name.
• Joseph avowed that the dreams were of his God, the only true God
• Joseph signaled to the Pharaoh that he was not in some sorts of trouble. But that the dreams concerned the immediate future of Egypt and the surrounding nations
• Joseph simplified to the Pharaoh that the two dreams were only one dream in essence.
• The seven fat cows and the seven good heads are the next seven consecutive years.
• The land was about to experience seven abundant years.
• The seven skinny and ugly cows concerned the following seven years.
• Seven years of famine to follow seven years of abundance.
• The famine to be so severe to wipe out all the benefits of the previous years of abundance.
• Joseph also knew that there were no time delay in the events.

THE BONUS ANSWER OF JOSEPH

• Ge 41:32-36 Si Pharaon a vu le songe se répéter une seconde fois, c’est que la chose est arrêtée de la part de Dieu, et que Dieu se hâtera de l’exécuter.
•  33 ¶ Maintenant, que Pharaon choisisse un homme intelligent et sage, et qu’il le mette à la tête du pays d’Égypte.

34 Que Pharaon établisse des commissaires sur le pays, pour lever un cinquième des récoltes de l’Égypte pendant les sept années d’abondance.

•  35 Qu’ils rassemblent tous les produits de ces bonnes années qui vont venir; qu’ils fassent, sous l’autorité de Pharaon, des amas de blé, des approvisionnements dans les villes, et qu’ils en aient la garde.

36 Ces provisions seront en réserve pour le pays, pour les sept années de famine qui arriveront dans le pays d’Égypte, afin que le pays ne soit pas consumé par la famine.

• Joseph was not called upon to give  advises to the Pharaoh.
• Joseph was under no obligation to share any more insights beyond interpreting the dreams.
• The extra services came out of Joseph’s generous and selfless heart.
• Joseph is now addressing the Pharaoh in the imperative tone.
• Joseph is dictating the operation.
• You need to find a general manager as soon as possible.
• You need to build several food banks throughout the Land.
• You need to buy food for cheap from farmers in the time of abundance.
• You need to make sure no food get wasted.
• Prepare food for human and animal consumptions to last seven years.
• Take no time to do all that I just told you.

THE PROMOTION OF JOSEPH

Ge 41:37-46 Ces paroles plurent à Pharaon et à tous ses serviteurs.

 38 Et Pharaon dit à ses serviteurs: Trouverions-nous un homme comme celui-ci, ayant en lui l’esprit de Dieu?

 39 Et Pharaon dit à Joseph: Puisque Dieu t’a fait connaître toutes ces choses, il n’y a personne qui soit aussi intelligent et aussi sage que toi.

40 Je t’établis sur ma maison, et tout mon peuple obéira à tes ordres. Le trône seul m’élèvera au-dessus de toi.

 41 Pharaon dit à Joseph: Vois, je te donne le commandement de tout le pays d’Égypte.

 42 Pharaon ôta son anneau de la main, et le mit à la main de Joseph; il le revêtit d’habits de fin lin, et lui mit un collier d’or au cou.

43 Il le fit monter sur le char qui suivait le sien; et l’on criait devant lui: A genoux! C’est ainsi que Pharaon lui donna le commandement de tout le pays d’Égypte.

 44 Il dit encore à Joseph: Je suis Pharaon! Et sans toi personne ne lèvera la main ni le pied dans tout le pays d’Égypte.

45 Pharaon appela Joseph du nom de Tsaphnath-Paenéach; et il lui donna pour femme Asnath, fille de Poti-Phéra, prêtre d’On. Et Joseph partit pour visiter le pays d’Égypte.

 46 ¶ Joseph était âgé de trente ans lorsqu’il se présenta devant Pharaon, roi d’Égypte; et il quitta Pharaon, et parcourut tout le pays d’Égypte.

• Joseph captured not just the attention of Pharaoh but also that of all his counselors.
• The brilliance and the sharpness of Joseph’s mind was surreal.
• The interpretation of the most difficult dream accompanied by the most concise course of action was divine.
• Where in Egypt would be find that genius that Joseph mentioned?
• There was no prodigy and no experts in Egypt to match the intelligence and the spiritual insights of Joseph.
• The Pharaoh and his assistance had to admit that Joseph was endowed by the Spirit of God.
• Joseph described the job for another but God gave it to him.
• Joseph just earned one more degree in God’s school of formation.
• From slave to prisoner, from prisoner to prime minister of the Egyptian Empire. 
• Joseph did not seek for Egyptian citizenship, that was rather offered to him.
• Joseph did not have to seek for freedom.
• In one day, Joseph became the boss of his former masters.
• Joseph could have used that position to clear up his name and make Potiphar’s family pay for the alimony of his misfortune in prison.
• The task at hand to prepare for the next 14 years was Joseph’s only preoccupation.
• Joseph was a type of Christ, being, the only one with the solution.
• Joseph was not just a gift to his family but a gift to the whole world.
• Thanks to Joseph, Egypt was spared  a great calamity.
• Thanks to Joseph the kingdom of the Pharaoh became exponentially wealthy.
• Thanks to Joseph the nations around Egypt were spared of a great disaster.
• Thanks to Joseph, the most fertile lands in Egypt were given to Jacob’s family .
• Thanks to Joseph God could find a worthy ambassador to channel his will on earth.
• Thanks to Joseph The children of Israel were respected and protected in Egypt for several centuries.
• Thanks to Joseph we learn a great deal about the faithfulness of God.
• AMEN!
