NOTRE DIEU EST PLUS QUE CAPABLE DE NOUS DELIVRER

OUR GOD IS MORE THAN ABLE TO DELIVER US

Le Malheur Atteint Souvent le Juste Mais l’Éternel l’en Délivre Toujours. Ps 34:19

Many are the Afflictions of the Righteous, But the LORD Delivers Him Out of Them All

Pr 18:10

¶ The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe

Notre Dieu est capable de nous délivrer,

Notre Dieu est capable de nous délivrer,

De la fournaise ardente,

De la fosse aux lions.

Notre Dieu est capable de nous délivrer !

II

12 Fr.

INTRODUCTION

  • As Children of God, we face constant and relentless attacks from the devil.
  • It seems like we keep facing impossible obstacles to relinquish our faith in God.
  • No matter how great the victories God enabled us to have in the past; we tend to be intimidated in face of new challenges.
  • The Children of Israel got in a lot of trouble with God for doubting that God was able to help them conquer the former inhabitants of the Canaan.
  • Of the 12 spies, only Caleb and Joshua believed that victory was possible with God’s help.
  • A whole generation had to die in the desert because of unbelief in God.
  • All who have seen the wonders that God did in Egypt and the crossing of the Red Sea were found guilty for doubting God.
  • All Christians will have to take tests of faith throughout their lives, and how they respond will determine their stand with God.
  • “God is omnipotent’ is not just a cliché, but a statement of faith.
  • The three young Hebrews had to put their lives on the line on the omnipotence of God.

Da 3:16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter.

17 “If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king.

18 “But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.”

  • As nice as it is for one to brag about his god, Christians are mandated to live their lives by their attestations of God.

CAN GOD DELIVER US ALWAYS, BUT, WILL GOD DELIVER US ALWAYS?

  • In the new trend of preaching in some evangelical circles, there is a great confusion as what to expect from God.
  • We compile verses from the Bible and put them out of context to make them say that God promises to always deliver us his children from all harms.
  • We can hand pick verses from the Bible to create a prosperity gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • Soon or later, life will hand you a test where only the true and correct faith in God can withstand.
  • The three young Hebrews were facing instant excruciating death for non-compliance to the king’s order to worship the statue.
  • They accepted the consequences of their choices while maintaining their faith in the omnipotence God.
  • God can deliver us, there’s no question about it.
  • Will God deliver us, we have no clue. That’s up to the sovereignty of God.
  • Nowadays we think that faith is a strong declaration of the omnipotence of God to bring out our desired result.
  • True faith is the belief in the sovereignty and wisdom of God while maintaining a bold confidence in the omnipotence of God.
  • As we focus on the mighty interventions of God in this message, I just wanted to throw some disclaimers up front.

NO REASON TO FEAR OR WORRY IF YOU ARE A CHILD OF GOD

  • As children of God, we ought to be the most assured of all to be under the protection of the almighty God.
  • Whenever we encounter threat, we can be assured that God’s intervention is near.
  • Our God is called the God of Host, or the God of the armies. When we are under attack by the enemy countless angels are deployed to protect us.
  • Since the devil roams around the children like a roaring lion seeking to devour them, God’s angels likewise are monitoring us around the clock to assure our safety.
  • As David was pounding on the unfailing love and protection of God, he was able to write the psalm 27

Ps 27:1 ¶ The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?

2 When the wicked came against me To eat up my flesh, My enemies and foes, They stumbled and fell.

3 Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war should rise against me, In this I will be confident.

<><><>

Ps 27:1 ¶ De David.

WHEN FACING DEATH

WHEN IN NEED OF SECURITY

BOLDNESS DRAWNED FOR BELONGING TO GOD

(LSV)

6 The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? (NKJV)

Today by the grace of God we will see why the servants of God had such great faith in God.

THE OPENNING OF THE EYES OF FAITH

  • Although God is so close to us and so ready to defend us from the attacks of the enemy, yet a great many of Christians walk in fear because their spiritual eyes are shot.
  • In the cultic world they talk about the opening of the third eye in aim to permeate the spiritual world.
  • Christians also need to have their spiritual eyes open so that we can see the operations of God.
  •  1 ¶ Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
  • The great prophet Elisha had to ask God to open the eyes of his servant to quiet his anxious spirit who sensed that Israel was about to be destroyed by the Syrians.

  • Faith enables you to materialize what cannot be seen by the naked eye.
  • Without faith it is impossible to please God.
  • Many Christians fail in the assignments God sent them on earth to do because of lack of faith.

SOME NOTICEABLE RESCUE OPERATIONS OF GOD IN THE BIBLE

  • THE CROSSING OF THE RED SEA
    • Only the Creator God has such authority over the elements of nature.
    • A mighty wind to blow in such precision to create pathway trough the Red Sea.
  • THE CROSSING JORDAN
    • God repeated the same phenomena for Joshua in the crossing of the Jordan.
    • Who needs bridges when God wants you on the other side?
  • THE ESCAPE OF THREE COMPANIONS OF DANIEL FROM THE FIRERY FURNACE.
    • God is proven sovereign over the forces and principles of nature.
    • Fire has a free ride over all its surrounding unless God overrules an exception.
    • The fire only had the power over the cords they bounded them with.
    • The clothes and their bodies were spared.
  • THE RESCUE OF DANIEL FROM THE LION’S DEN
    • Here, we get a glimpse of the sovereignty of God.
    • The lion is mean by God’s doing.
    • The lion can also be made gentle by God’s doing.
    • Nothing in the world is operating on its own will.
    • God is the one setting jurisdiction of operation for all His creatures
  • THE RESCUE OF JOSEPH THE PRISON CELL TO BECOME THE PRIME MINISTER OF EGYPT.
    • God is proven to be the master of circumstances.
    • Even when the human element is present, God orchestrates all the happenings in life to fulfill his will.
    • Although it seems accidental, but the scene of Joseph walking out of prison to be elevated prime minister in Egypt was already rehearsed and approved by God.
    • The grand scheme was already explained to Abraham that his descendants will spend 400 years in a foreign country before taking a massive exodus back to the promise Land.
  • THE MIRACULUS RESCUE OF PETER FROM JAIL
    • In the New Testament we find that God did not yet wish for Peter to die as a martyr but Satan was trying to enforce his own will on the life of Peter.
    • God put everyone to sleep, unlocked the chains from Peter, opened the door of the prison and lead Peter out.
    • When God is operating, there is no resistance possible.
  • THE MIRACULOUS INTERVENTION OF GOD TO RELEASE PAUL AND SILAS FROM JAIL.
    • God allowed Paul and Silas to be beaten and imprisoned unfairly.
    • At the midnight hour God broke in and freed His servants not to get out, but to be a witness for Him.
    • The experience cost the Philippians a jail house.

GOD’S MIRACULOUS INTERVENTIONS IN THE LIFE OF DAVID

  • When we read the Bible and specially the Psalms, we encounter some of the rescue operations of God.
  • Rescue operations take a great deal of courage because it involves neutralizing the force of the enemy while aiming to save the life of your fellow soldiers or compatriots.

 4 (18:5) Les liens de la mort m’avaient environné, Et les torrents de la destruction m’avaient épouvanté;

 16 (18:17) Il étendit sa main d’en haut, il me saisit, Il me retira des grandes eaux;

  • Only the beneficiaries of such great interventions of God like David can write a song so colorful and so vivid like psalm 18.
  • We ought to do like David in reminiscence of the great interventions of God in our lives.

CONCLUSION

  • God is still in the security business to protect his children.
  • The fact that you are still alive today means that God is active in your life.
  • God does not spare any effort to assure the safety of his children.
  • When you see that a heavy cloud is still looming over the head of humanity.
  • You may tend to cave and withdraw in fear and hopelessness.
  • Remember to open the eyes of faith.
  • Remember that God is still in control.
  • Remember that nothing can happen to you outside of the will of God.
  • Contemplate on the fact those that are on your side far exceed those that are coming against you, and see that Greater is He that is in you that he that is in the world.

AMEN!
