THE MISADVENTURES OF GOD

INTRODUCTION

• When we see a person stricken by a greater share of adversity than the rest of humanity, out of empathy and sympathy we say, “poor child!”, poor man!”, “poor woman!”
• We say it for orphans, handicaps, victims of domestic violence, children of drug addicts, people who live sub-human conditions in swamps or areas hit by famines, or crimes, or wars.
• Many a time, our empathy comes from the fact that many of these victims found themselves in imposed situations that they have no control over.
• There are other people who get looked over because his or her conditions are not as obvious for everyone to see.
• The guy who lives in the big house down the street can be just as heartbroken over his only son who turns to a drug addict and living a life of crime.
• The lady you see driving the luxurious car can be terminally ill.
• Today we will be talking the misfortunes and the misadventures of The Creator God JEHOVAH,
• God is misfortune not in the sense of His loss of power, or that His kingdom is any sort of jeopardy, but in the sense of His failed attempt to have a perfect world as He desired.

TROUBLES IN THE HEAVENS

Re 12:7 And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought,

 8 but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer.

 9 So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

• We all know that the spiritual world had existed even before time and before the creation of the physical world.
• God has no beginning and no end, and God is outside of time. In other words, God transcends time and space in a way that we finite beings cannot comprehend.
• For an incalculable span that could translate to millions and billions of years, there was perfect harmony in the kingdom of God.
• There must have been perfect synchronization in God’s kingdom before the fall of the angels.
• And then, one day, one of God’s most trusted and influential angel coveted the throne of God.
• This one angel was so clothed with glory that he esteem himself worthy of the same worship that was been rendered to God.
• Through a series of turmoil, the intruder was finally casted out, but, not without taking a third of the heavenly beings with him.
• Poor God!!! We could say.
  • What did He do to deserve that?
  • Was He not so generous to the one who started the riot?
  • Was it out of his misery or out of his folly for grandeur that Lucifer was prompted to rip the kingdom of God?
• Knowing God’s nature, we can imagine that God was hearth broken to have to cast all these angels out.
• God was hearth broken over the fact that He is going to have to send them in a place of torment for ever for He did not create them for that purpose.
• As a God of justice, his kingdom is made of strict and equitable laws that cannot be revoked.
• What a waste! Now God has to create a furnace fitted for the punishment of the fallen angels.
• The whole world has to be remade.
• Poor God!!! We could say.

TROUBLES IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN

Ge 1:26-18 ¶ Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

• Propelled only by love, God created the first human couple.
• As if God did not know about the future, He indulged Himself in a deep affection for this newly created being.
• He formed them with his own hands, at His own image and resemblance.
• He blew life Adam’s in nostrils, and man became a living soul.
• Imaging handing a girl her first doll; imagine the deep satisfaction of God over the completion of the physical world.
  • Daily, God would come down to have fellowship with the couple.
  • After the creation of Adam and Eve it was as if God had restored harmony in his kingdom again.
• The arch enemy of God turned himself against this new project just in an effort to break the heart of God once more.
• Within weeks, months, or years, God found Himself hearth broken again. Poor God!!!
• Just like before, God had to usher the first human couple out of paradise to the wilderness to be under the control of the enemy.
• That was the second failure of God, but the Creator God had nothing to be blamed for in both cases.
  • They had every food conceivable in the Garden.
  • They lacked nothing for their survival and pleasure in the Garden.
  • They were instructed not to touch that one fruit.
  • They had to have a will, for they were created not as robots but free moral agents of their destiny.
• Although did what He had to do to remediate the situation, but He could not be consoled over the fall of humanity.
• With teary eyes,, God made man his first clothe since the first garment of His glory was removed from mankind due to the presence of sin in them.
• Poor God!!!

THE MISFORTUNE OF GOD IN THE ATTEMPT OF THE REDEMPTION OF MANKIND

• God behaved differently toward fallen humanity than He did with the fallen angels.
• First, He continued to love them and lament over them even in their fallen state.
• Second, He would not stop trying to secure a relationship with them
• God managed to befriend specific men after the fall.
• Enoch became God’s body
• Methuselah became God’s body
• When evil became so rampant on earth, God chose His only friend Noah and his family to extend the human race while eradicating all the other inhabitants of the earth. Poor God!!!
• Shortly after the flood, God had to confound the language of mankind to slow down their path of deterioration.
• Further down in history, God found another good friend, his name was Abram.
• Through that one body, God created a nation that would bear his name on earth.
• The nation of Israel became another misadventure of God, yet His great love for humanity kept Him from giving up on us altogether.
• Every now and then God would find great individuals in the human race and use them to further His great plan of the salvation of humanity.
• One of God’s great bodies on earth was named David. God narrowed the line of David to bring forth the Messiah.

THE CHURCH, ANOTHER TROUBLED INVESTMENT OF GOD

• In spite of all odds, Jesus Christ, the Seed of God still came on earth in aim to create a pathway of reconciliation between God and mankind.
• Jesus broke the curse of sin that separated mankind to God and vanquished death.
• The soul of man can now be liberated from the bondage of sin. Man now can be born anew in the family of God.
• What a promotion for humanity! What a slap in the face of the enemy!
• The once condemned soul can now be regenerated while the fallen angels have no such provisions made for them.
• The Holy Spirit descended on the day of Pentecost to reinforce the plan of the redemption of mankind.
• Now, not just a race or a clan of people, but the whole world can partake in this great salvation of God offered to mankind.
• In the course of the two thousand years of church history, the church has now become weary and blemished.
• The enemy has made serious invasions in Christendom but the Gospel manages to live on.
• Poor God!!!

GOD IS PLEASED WITH SOME NONETHELESS

• Although it seems as if God had made a bad investment with the creation of the human race, it’s not all bad for God thanks to some key individuals in history.
• The true friends of God are in all the four corners of the world shinning the light of the Cross of Jesus to a doom generation.
• The Gospel is being preached throughout the earth by all means necessary.
• People are receiving Christ by the thousands on a daily basis.
• The 5 wise virgins are up and ready in expectation of the soon to arrive Groom.

CONCLUSION

GOD IS NOT SO POOR AFTER ALL WITH ALL THINGS CONSIDERED!

• He’s got me
• He’s got you and many others who are crazy about Him.
• His word is translated in almost all known languages.
• People of all backgrounds are fleeing their past to begin a new life with Jesus.
• Paradise is swelled with happy saints who have finished the earthly pilgrimage awaiting the advent of Christ.
• It pays off for God to hang on to mankind.
• It pays off for God that He sent His Son on earth to pave a way of reconciliation.
• Yes, heaven will be filled with many empty seats, yet, we who will occupy the front rows will numb the ears of the Creator with acclamation and exaltation forever and ever.
• Great time of harvest is in the horizon for God.
• There is a new creation coming.
• Evil will forever be abolished.
• There will be no reason for God to ever be angry anymore.
• Eternity future looks good for both God and the redeemed.
• Thank you God Almighty for not destroying the human race when we acted so undeservedly toward you.
• Thank you Lord Jesus Christ for keeping true to your promise for the salvation of mankind when we gave you every reason to withdraw from it.  
• Thank you Holy Spirit for engaging in the hardest work of transformation that you are doing in us while we disappoint you repeatedly on a daily basis.

Re 21:1 ¶ Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.

 2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.
