FALLING IN LOVE AND RESISTING SEXUAL TEMPTATION BEFORE MARRIAGE
1Th 4:3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality;
4 that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor,
5 not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God
7 For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness.
FALLING IN LOVE
- Falling in love is one of the most beautiful and mysterious thing on earth.
- It does something to your entire being when you meet your soul mate.
- Think of Adam waking up from his transplant operation to find the most beautiful woman sleeping next to him.
- He must have pinched himself a number of times to assure that he was not dreaming.
- God blessed them and perform the first marriage.
- Falling in love is a natural part of human development.
- Falling in love is a mutual desire between two people of opposite sex to be connected as loving partners.
- If it is not of the opposite sex, God is not in it.
- Growing up we all had crushes on people that we admire like singers, television actors, teachers, coaches, cartoons characters, etc.
- Most of these people are either too old or already taken.
- That love is one sided because the other person may not even know you or love you.
- People may have had secret admires as well.
- As people mature, they find out that what they thought was love was really “play love” or fantasy.
- Because we live in a corrupt world, unfortunately, many of those “play loves” have gone too far.
- Many begin get to the physical aspect of love prematurely before really being in a solid love relationship.
- Hollywood makes you think that if you truly have feelings for somebody then it’s ok to extend that to sexual activities.
- For the Christian, sex is always reserved for after marriage.
- People should not haste to fall in love because that feeling can dictate the rest of your life.
- Love is super strong emotion that should be bound until one is mature to handle it.
WHEN AND TO WHOM A CHRISTIAN SHOULD FALL IN LOVE WITH?
- You should only fall in love with people who are thinking about starting a family with you.
- You should only fall in love with people who abide by the laws of God as you.
- You should only fall in love with someone who promises to wait after marriage to talk about sex or physical satisfactions.
- If you cannot hold any longer, then you should get married and have the blessing of God.
- Song 2:7 I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, By the gazelles or by the does of the field, Do not stir up nor awaken love Until it pleases.
- Song 3:5 I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, By the gazelles or by the does of the field, Do not stir up nor awaken love Until it pleases.
- Song 8:4 I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, Do not stir up nor awaken love until it pleases.
- Song 8:7 Many waters cannot quench love, Nor can the floods drown it. If a man would give for love All the wealth of his house, It would be utterly despised.
- With love comes: passions, aspirations, reorientation of life, jealousy, and vulnerability and the list go on.
- Love can be very demanding because love is also sensual.
- When people are in love their bodies may react independently of their mind.
- Although you may know what to do, you may not be able to control yourself if you do not take extreme precautions.
- Love has a sense of no holding back.
THE GIFT OF SEX
- Think of sex as being given a car by your parents.
- You have to have the minimum age required to drive it.
- You have to be trained to drive it.
- You have to have a license to drive it.
- You must have assurance to drive it.
- Sex is one of the best gifts that God could ever give to mankind.
- Sex is intended for procreation and pleasure within the confines of marriage.
- In God’s mind, sex is for mankind to have pleasure while procreating.
- For many people procreation is an accident that can happen while enjoying the pleasure of sex.
- Sex can get a Christian in a lot of trouble with God.
- To do it before marriage is a sin.
- To do it with someone else other than your husband or wife is a sin.
- To do it with the same sex is a sin.
- To amuse oneself like masturbation or making use of sex toys is a sin.
- To do it with an animal is a gross sin.
- Even married couples can pervert the sexual act by doing it contrarily as God intended.
FLEE FROM SEXUAL TEMPTATION
- No one can negotiate with sexual sin, you must flee.
- You flee because you are weak.
- You must flee because your body may put pressure on you beyond control.
- You must flee because you both may desire it at the same time.
- You must flee because of the sequences that are tagged to sexual activities.
- You must flee because it can kill all your plans for the future.
- You must flee because it may bring shame in the aftermath.
- You must flee because you will be chastised by God.
- You must flee because you can become the murderer of your own child in an unwanted pregnancy.
1Co 6:18,19 18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.
19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?
1Th 4:3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality;
4 that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor,
5 not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God
7 For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness.
AMEN!
