THE THREE DIMENSIONS OF THE WILL OF GOD
CHRIST THE ROCK CONGREGATION
SUNDAY AUGUST 2ND 2020
Sermon by Pastor Marc Simeon
LES TROIS DIMENSIONS DE LA VOLONTÉ DE DIEU
THE THREE DIMENSIONS OF THE WILL OF GOD
Romains 12:1-2
Ro 12:1 ¶ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
BE A LIVING SACRIFICE UNTO GOD
• When you read Romans 12 verse 1, the length of the verse seems average, but the implication of this verse is huge.
• Paul makes a plea to the Christians to practice true Christianity.
• No one can claim to be a disciple of Christ until he or she is willing to make the ultimate sacrifice.
• To be a true Christian is to throw yourself in the offering plate as a living sacrifice unto God.
• Being a Christian is a serious business.
• People who serve the devil are sometimes asked to make sacrifices.
• The sacrifices can go from money, fruits, cooked foods, animals, and sometimes human beings.
• Being a Christian is much involved; the sacrifice required is your own self.
• God expects us to be a living sacrifice. Not a dead sacrifice that is made once and for all.
• A living sacrifice involves a person who accepts to die to himself, and to live for the sole purpose to please God.
• A full dedication of your body soul and spirit to the lordship of God.
• The sacrifice must be pleasing to God. Therefore the sacrifice cannot be partial or selective, but whole.
• Paul considers it as the only reasonable sacrifice that a Christian can offer to God.
• Because of the high cost of our salvation from the side of God, the offering of ourselves to God is the least we can do; it is reasonable token of gratitude that is well pleasing to God.
• God put His most precious possession on the altar to save us. We in term must our most precious possession on the altar as well. All for all!
DO NOT BE CONFORM TO THIS WORLD
• It is remarkable that these two verses are linked together.
• You cannot be a living sacrifice if you follow the trend of this world.
• You cannot please God using the philosophies of the present age.
• The world is like a molding machine that challenges the intended design that God desires for us.
• Satan being the prince of this world tries to reprogram to his likeness so that we can become alienated to God.
• The pressure points in the molding machine are so subtle and hidden that most would not even recognize the reshaping process.
THE MOLDING OF THIS WORLD
1Jo 2:15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. (NKJV)
16 For all that is in the world–the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life–is not of the Father but is of the world.
(LSV)
The Mold of this world:
• The advertisement of success
• The advertisement of accumulation
• The advertisement of pleasure
• The advertisement of freedom
• The advertisement of power
• The advertisement of honor
Resulting to the Trading of Your Soul
• Alienation from God
• The death of your faith
• The lost of your call
• The lost of your testimony
• The lost of your peace
• The lost of holiness
• The lost of freedom
• The lost of your family
• The lost of your mind
• The lost of your dignity
• The lost of God’s presence
• The lost of purpose in life
BE TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWING OF YOUR MIND (Rom 12:2)
• God also has a program whereby He transforms us His children to the likeness of His Son Jesus Christ.
• The Holy Spirit is actively working on every believer to reshape our mind and our attitude to the likeness of Jesus Christ.
Php 1:6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;
THE WAR WITHIN
• Two foes are fighting to get access and control of our hearts.
• Satan has a program to keep you bound to sin and thereby causing you to miss your opportunity to go to heaven.
• The Holy Spirit himself is preparing you for the day of the Lord like a diligent tutor prepares a student for an exam.
• The day of the Lord in this instance means the day you die, the day of your judgment.
• Being a free moral agent, you have the free will to say no to God and face the consequences associated.
• We Christians are given the right and the power to resist the devil and his guises.
• The more compliant you are to the Holy Spirit, the more you will experience victory over the flesh.
Ga 5:17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. (NKJV)
(LSV)
BE TRANSFORMED SO THAT YOU CAN DISCERN THE WILL OF GOD
• Satan is a master mind; there is no way to outsmart him with your carnal mind.
• Satan can make good to look as bad, and bad as good.
• Satan can make darkness to seems like light, and light as darkness.
• Satan can make a lie to look like the truth and the truth as lie.
• Satan is able to transpose himself as an angel of light.
• If we allow the Holy Spirit to transform our lives, He will illuminate us to discern the things of God.
1Co 2:10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. (NKJV)
(LSV)
• The Holy Spirit is our detector of the will of God.
• He is the indicating gage that tells us the will of God.
• He is the meter that can pinpoint how God register our deeds.
GOOD, ACCEPTABLE, PERFECT
• With the help of the Holy Spirit and through the clairvoyance of the renewed mind, we can now detect the three positions of the will of God.
• There are areas of Christian liberty and personal freedom where a Christian can operate without being at odd with God.
• There are areas of personal restrictions applied to certain individuals and not others.
• There are areas of restriction simply for the sake of others.
• There is an area where one is inside the will of God but not at the center.
• The Holy Spirit enables you to recognize the three dimensions of the will of God.
• GOOD, not bad, but not great. C
• ACCEPTABLE, not bad, commendable by God, but not perfect. B
• PERFECT means the highest satisfaction from God. A+
• Perfect indicates to be in perfect lining with the will of God.
• The aim of every Christian ought to be to attain this level of obedience.
CONCLUSION
Ro 12:1 ¶ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
• Paul makes a plea to us Christians although it is an imperative.
• Paul is begging us to reach that level of obedience because he knows how hard it is to get there
• Paul wants us to think of the compassions of God had we fight to offer ourselves to God as a reasonable offering to God.
• Paul warns us that we cannot be pleasing to God without the renewed mind.
• In the midst of the avalanches of ideas that are pumping in our mind, Paul wants us to distinguish and to discern the voice of God.
• Finally Paul wants us to be able to measure the positive points of the will of God: GOOD, ACCEPTABLE, AND PERFECT.
• Let us strive to hit the perfect will of God at all times.
• May God bless you!
AMEN!
