LA PATERNITE DE DIEU / THE FATHERHOOD OF GOD
LECTURE
Romains 8:15-17
Et vous n’avez point reçu un esprit de servitude, pour être encore dans la crainte; mais vous avez reçu un Esprit d’adoption, par lequel nous crions: Abba! Père! 16 L’Esprit lui-même rend témoignage à notre esprit que nous sommes enfants de Dieu. Ro 8:17 ¶ Or, si nous sommes enfants, nous sommes aussi héritiers: héritiers de Dieu, et cohéritiers de Christ, si toutefois nous souffrons avec lui, afin d’être glorifiés avec lui.
15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 ¶ and if children, then heirs–heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
INTRODUCTION
- The men of science have a hard time to relate to God.
- The most honest of them admit that there must have been someone or some forces outside of creation to give it the first spin.
- I heard a scientist say, “the only thing we’re having trouble with is the beginning aspect of the world, beyond that we can figure the rest out.”
- If they go as far as accepting an outside cause of the creation, then it must be a force, or energy.
- Only a handful of scientists are getting out of the closet waiving the white flag saying: “we cannot figure out the beginning of the universe.” The evolution theory is proven to be wrong by newer scientific discoveries. The big bang theory cannot be right because you would need a lot of preexisting complex materials to create a bang big enough to create the whole world.
- The only logical explanation is: The existence of the world is impossible, or the world does not exist, yet, our very own existence proves us wrong.
- One poet said it this way: “I think, therefore I am.”
- Logic as we know it does not and cannot provide a satisfying explanation for our existence.
- While venting their frustrations, some would also admit that, if for instance a pre-existed God or energy is the cause of the universe, then It could never be a personal being.
- This being or force or intelligence would be so big that (He or it) would be outside of the scopes of human interactions.
- With the high frequency of NDE (Near Death Experiences) occurrences these days, and the uniformity of these experiences, the scientific community is forced to admit that they are blank in certain other realms of reality although they cannot deny their existences.
- They can no longer associate religion to these NDE testimonies because many of the subjects have no previous conception of God or religion or pr-conceived ideas of death.
- In all these occurrences, God is revealed to be a personal God, and life is found to be a continuous experience whether within or without the physical body.
- If God is a personal being, then the Bible must be right.
- If one would for a minute go alone with the idea of being created by a God, then the next question would why? What is the chief end of the creation of mankind?
- What gratification this God was expecting in the creation of the man?
- On this Father’s day I want to preach about the FATHERHOOD OF GOD to you.
- Of all the means that God could have used to relate to us, He prefers for us to relate to Him as a father.
- In the Old Testament, the concept of God was not fully revealed. Being used to scary and frightening deities, The Jews had a great sense of awe and distance to God.
- They did not dare pronounce His Name. When the scribes would handwrite the name of God they would use a different pen.
- Although God must be revered by all His creatures, but the sense of fear they had for God further alienated them from knowing God in a personal level.
- They had gotten a glimpse of Him in Mount Sinai and they were terrified.
- Yet God continued to seek a more personal relationship with mankind.
JESUS CAME ON EARTH IN ORDER TO REVEAL THE FATHER
Hébreux 1 :1-3
1¶ Après avoir autrefois, à plusieurs reprises et de plusieurs manières, parlé à nos pères par les prophètes, (1:2) Dieu,
2 dans ces derniers temps, nous a parlé par le Fils, qu’il a établi héritier de toutes choses, par lequel il a aussi créé le monde,
3 et qui, étant le reflet de sa gloire et l’empreinte de sa personne, et soutenant toutes choses par sa parole puissante, a fait la purification des péchés et s’est assis à la droite de la majesté divine dans les lieux très hauts,
Heb 1:1-3
1¶ God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,
2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;
3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
- None of the prophets were able to paint a complete picture of God, because they had not seen God nor dwelled with Him.
- We knew how to fear God and how to escape the judgment of God.
- Humanity’s conception of God was not complete.
- Have you ever been misrepresented by someone, and come someone like your wife, your children, or other friends or relatives, they give an impression completely opposite to how you are popularly percieved.

- We are all the creation of God, but, only a handful of us living on this earth are part of that special class of people that can rightly be called children of God.
JESUS TEACHES US TO RELATE TO GOD AS FATHER.
- The Bible is very explicit on who can call God Father.
- The fatherhood of God is not on the fact of being a creation of God, but on the fact of regeneration.
- God is the creator of all beings visible and invisibles.
- The fatherhood of God is a special covenant extended only to those who are willing to abide by his will.
Joh 3:16 Car Dieu a tant aimé le monde qu’il a donné son Fils unique, afin que quiconque croit en lui ne périsse point, mais qu’il ait la vie éternelle. (LSV)
16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (NKJV)
- The fatherhood of God is a special adoption.
- The fatherhood of God is covenantal or conditional
GOD IS A REWARDING FATHER
Mt 6:1 ¶ Gardez-vous de pratiquer votre justice devant les hommes, pour en être vus; autrement, vous n’aurez point de récompense auprès de votre Père qui est dans les cieux.
2 Lors donc que tu fais l’aumône, ne sonne pas de la trompette devant toi, comme font les hypocrites dans les synagogues et dans les rues, afin d’être glorifiés par les hommes. Je vous le dis en vérité, ils reçoivent leur récompense.
3 Mais quand tu fais l’aumône, que ta main gauche ne sache pas ce que fait ta droite,
4 afin que ton aumône se fasse en secret; et ton Père, qui voit dans le secret, te le rendra.
GOD IS A PERSONAL FATHER
5 ¶ Lorsque vous priez, ne soyez pas comme les hypocrites, qui aiment à prier debout dans les synagogues et aux coins des rues, pour être vus des hommes. Je vous le dis en vérité, ils reçoivent leur récompense.
6 Mais quand tu pries, entre dans ta chambre, ferme ta porte, et prie ton Père qui est là dans le lieu secret; et ton Père, qui voit dans le secret, te le rendra.
7 En priant, ne multipliez pas de vaines paroles, comme les païens, qui s’imaginent qu’à force de paroles ils seront exaucés.
8 Ne leur ressemblez pas; car votre Père sait de quoi vous avez besoin, avant que vous le lui demandiez.
9 ¶ Voici donc comment vous devez prier: Notre Père qui es aux cieux! Que ton nom soit sanctifié;
10 que ton règne vienne; que ta volonté soit faite sur la terre comme au ciel.
11 Donne-nous aujourd’hui notre pain quotidien;
12 pardonne-nous nos offenses, comme nous aussi nous pardonnons à ceux qui nous ont offensés;
13 ne nous induis pas en tentation, mais délivre-nous du malin. Car c’est à toi qu’appartiennent, dans tous les siècles, le règne, la puissance et la gloire. Amen!
GOD IS A RIGHTEOUS FATHER A GOD OF EQUITY AND FAIRNESS
14 Si vous pardonnez aux hommes leurs offenses, votre Père céleste vous pardonnera aussi;
15 mais si vous ne pardonnez pas aux hommes, votre Père ne vous pardonnera pas non plus vos offenses.
16 ¶ Lorsque vous jeûnez, ne prenez pas un air triste, comme les hypocrites, qui se rendent le visage tout défait, pour montrer aux hommes qu’ils jeûnent. Je vous le dis en vérité, ils reçoivent leur récompense.
17 Mais quand tu jeûnes, parfume ta tête et lave ton visage,
18 afin de ne pas montrer aux hommes que tu jeûnes, mais à ton Père qui est là dans le lieu secret; et ton Père, qui voit dans le secret, te le rendra.
GOD IS PROVIDING FATHER
Mt 6:31 Ne vous inquiétez donc point, et ne dites pas: Que mangerons-nous? que boirons-nous? de quoi serons-nous vêtus?
32 Car toutes ces choses, ce sont les païens qui les recherchent. Votre Père céleste sait que vous en avez besoin.
GOD IS A LOYAL FATHER
Mt 7:9 Lequel de vous donnera une pierre à son fils, s’il lui demande du pain? 10 Ou, s’il demande un poisson, lui donnera-t-il un serpent? 11 Si donc, méchants comme vous l’êtes, vous savez donner de bonnes choses à vos enfants, à combien plus forte raison votre Père qui est dans les cieux donnera-t-il de bonnes choses à ceux qui les lui demandent.
GOD IS A DISCIPLINARY FATHER
Heb 12:6-8
Car le Seigneur châtie celui qu’il aime, Et il frappe de la verge tous ceux qu’il reconnaît pour ses fils. 7 Supportez le châtiment: c’est comme des fils que Dieu vous traite; car quel est le fils qu’un père ne châtie pas? 8 Mais si vous êtes exempts du châtiment auquel tous ont part, vous êtes donc des enfants illégitimes, et non des fils.
GOD IS COMPASSIONATE FATHER
Ps 103:13 Comme un père a compassion de ses enfants, L’Éternel a compassion de ceux qui le craignent.
GOD IS A PROTECTIVE FATHER
Psalm 91 gives 15 areas and 19 sub-areas of the protection of God toward His Children
- ¶ Celui qui demeure sous l’abri du Très-Haut
- Repose à l’ombre du Tout Puissant.
- Car c’est lui qui te délivre
- du filet de l’oiseleur,
- De la peste et de ses ravages.
- Il te couvrira de ses plumes,
- Et tu trouveras un refuge sous ses ailes;
- Sa fidélité est un bouclier et une cuirasse.
- Tu ne craindras
- ni les terreurs de la nuit,
- Ni la flèche qui vole de jour,
- Ni la peste qui marche dans les ténèbres,
- Ni la contagion qui frappe en plein midi.
- Que mille tombent à ton côté, Et dix mille à ta droite,
- Tu ne seras pas atteint;
- De tes yeux seulement tu regarderas,
- Et tu verras la rétribution des méchants.
- Aucun malheur ne t’arrivera,
- Aucun fléau n’approchera de ta tente.
- Il ordonnera à ses anges
- De te garder dans toutes tes voies;
- Ils te porteront sur les mains, De peur que ton pied ne heurte contre une pierre.
- Tu marcheras sur le lion et sur l’aspic,
- Tu fouleras le lionceau et le dragon.
- Puisqu’il m’aime, puisqu’il connaît mon nom
- je le délivrerai;
- Je le protégerai,
- Il m’invoquera,
- je lui répondrai;
- Je serai avec lui dans la détresse,
- Je le délivrerai
- je le glorifierai.
- Je le rassasierai de longs jours,
- Et je lui ferai voir mon salut.
CONCLUSION
- Can you honestly call God your father this morning?
- What evidences have you to call Him Father?
- Is there any family resemblance between you and God?
- Could others identify you as a child of God?
- Do you consider yourself a child of God because of the manifold of goods that you have accumulated in this life?
- Is His Spirit living in you?
- Are you walking in obedience to His word.
- Malachie 1:6 ¶ Un fils honore son père, et un serviteur son maître. Si je suis père, où est l’honneur qui m’est dû? Si je suis maître, où est la crainte qu’on a de moi? Dit l’Éternel des armées. . ?
- Mal 3:17 Ils seront à moi, dit l’Éternel des armées, Ils m’appartiendront, au jour que je prépare; J’aurai compassion d’eux, Comme un homme a compassion de son fils qui le sert.
As we pounder on the fatherhood of God this morning, take time to review your adoption’s documents.
A legitimate adoption puts you in boundary with God by the means of your obedience to His word.
When the adoption is sealed, the confirmation will come from above.
Romains 816

- Make sure to read the fine line of the ramification of our sonship to God. If indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
- May God add His blessings to His word!
